DELTA’s 6th and final year has been approved

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has generously allowed us to have one more year for our DELTA project. The DELTA team is very grateful and excited to follow up on working on ‘Volatile Waters’ for another year, until February 2022.

Besides the completion of the four doctoral dissertations and short-term ethnographic research in their established field-sites, the sixth year of the DELTA project is defined by three Work Packages:

Work Package 1 aims to enhance the project’s anthropological publication record. The four studies will be drawn together more explicitly in a collaborative and comparative journal article. We also intend to focus on the publication of the three doctoral dissertations in highly visible publishing houses and in respected book series.

In Work Package 2, the focus is on transdisciplinary research and collaboration with the natural sciences. We want to engage the project’s findings more actively with natural science and engineering approaches to current challenges for river deltas.

WP3 is supposed to generate and distribute research output that is meaningful to the four research communities involved in the project. This material will take the form of an “ethno-graphic novel”, which can be distributed in the communities and made available online.

We are looking forward to the final phase in which Volatile Waters will expand its analysis, findings, and communication into three novel fields, each of which will be addressed by one of those Work Packages.
