Sandro Simon

Sandro Simon ist Doktorand im DELTA-Projekt und forscht im Sine-Saloum Delta in Senegal.* 

Er studierte Geschichte und Germanistik an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Br. (DE) und an der Universität Basel (CH), bevor er ebendort einen Master in African Studies mit den Hauptmodulen in Social Anthropology und Environment & Human Well-Being absolvierte.

Im Laufe seines Studiums absolvierte Sandro ein Semester an den Instituten für Cultural Geography und für Development Studies der Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (NL). Nach seinem M.A. Abschluss unterrichtete er am Institut für Ethnologie in Basel und arbeitete für NGOs in der Schweiz und in Ecuador, um schliesslich Mitglied im DELTA-Projekt zu werden. Im Rahmen dessen verbrachte er ein Fellowship am Anthropology Department der University of Minnesota (USA).

Die Masterarbeit von Sandro untersucht mittels Rechts- und Umweltanthropologie Praxen der urbanen Landwirtschaft in den Below Foncha-Wetlands von Bamenda, Kamerun. Ein Ausschnitt daraus ist als Sammelbandartikel erschienen.

* Sandro arbeitete vormals im Tana Delta, Kenia, musste seine Forschung dort aber aufgrund der verschlechterten Sicherheitslage abbrechen.
